Lotions + Dry Skin: The Inside Scoop

Some people never use lotion, and never struggle with dry skin, but that’s rare! For most people the struggle with dry skin is real! Do you have the seemingly never-ending cycle of dry skin, lotion, dry skin, lotion….? So, lotion to the rescue! Lotions help keep your skin moist and supple, right? Not so fast.

We’d like to suggest that you explore your options before you go that route. The answer to dry skin is actually somewhat complicated. If you have ever checked out a bottle of *traditional* lotion you may have noticed some form of water as the first ingredient. At first blush this sounds right. After all, we want moisture in our skin and what is more moist than water? So we don’t give it a second thought. The fact that *traditional* lotions contain 70-90% water doesn’t appear at first to be a bad thing. However, think for just a moment about what happens in the winter if you do not thoroughly dry your hands after washing them. Probably your hands become chapped. So, water isn’t the solution, but rather part of the problem. Then, to further exacerbate the situation, if you have water in a leave on product it has to have a strong preservative to make sure mold doesn’t begin to grow. It just may be that the chemical preservatives that are in lotion, because of the water- or even the water- are irritating your skin. We want to help you break out of that cycle! Our Lotion Alternatives contain butters, Beeswax, and Super Oils, not water, preservatives or other fillers! Our goal is serious skin love, and we think you’ll agree!

We have made an amazing line of seriously nourishing Lotion Alternatives! If you haven’t tried them yet, we suggest you start with Buttery Soft Lotion Concentrate if you prefer more of a traditional lotion, or our Butter Bar is you prefer a hard lotion bar. Here’s to life with soft skin!!
